Sensory Integration

Sensory Integration Image 2

"Sensory" pertains to our 5 senses plus the perception of motion, movement and gravity. "Integration" is the process of unifying or allowing the brain to utilize the information that the senses receive.

Occupational therapists use sensory integration to help children organize sensory information for use in the classroom and/or on the playground, for activities of daily living and for overall interactions with others on a daily basis.
